#MindfulMay 2020 - Day 1.

"Pay close attention to the little voice in your head that pushes you to tell others about your good deed", seemed a little unfair given I am blogging about it. I guess the card makers had no idea. Or perhaps they did and dislike bloggers. Either way, the day 1 activity was a breeze for me. Although sharing it with you may prove a little more complex…

As is my way, the second I had read the task my mind drifted into planning how to achieve it. I think that is ok from a mindfulness perspective because I was aware that was what I was doing. A huge benefit of mindfulness for me has been to be aware of what I am thinking and feeling. It is the major reason I avoid the news and social media some days so that I do not get distracted by thoughts and feelings that are not helpful to me.

Anyway, back to the task at hand. All my planning (as it turned out) was not very useful. Albeit I do now have a few additional kind deeds I would like to do anonymously. Fate, as it so often does, intervened to present the perfect opportunity. Forgive me for being a little clandestine at this point, I am trying to stick to the brief. Suffice to say, first thing this morning an opportunity presented itself for me to nominate (anonymously) a person for a prestigious award. Would I have nominated them without the mindfulness task? Absolutely! They very much deserve the recognition and award. However, I did put a little more effort than I might have done…

How did Day 1 go for you? You can leave a comment below or get in touch. Do you too find yourself “living in the future” and planning too much?

Be happy, healthy and helpful
